Lana Fingerless Gloves

Materials:

My daughter Sarah modeling the pair I made.

yarn – I used Vanna’s Choice Solids

Needle size: US 7

Gauge: 20 stitches over 4” in stockinette stitch

Sizes: One size (approx. 12” long)

 

Abbreviations:

SSK: slip slip knit

K2tog: knit two together

Kfb: knit in front and back of stitch

 

Directions:

 

RIGHT HAND GLOVE

Cast on 38 leaving a 10” tail

Join in the round and work

 

Step 1:

Round 1: Knit 26, (k1,p1) to end

Round 2: purl 26, (k1,p1) to end

Round 3: Repeat row 1

Round 4: Repeat row 2

 

Step 2:

Round 5: K2, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 12

Round 6: knit

Round 7: Knit

Round 8: knit

 

Next round: repeat row 5

Next round: Knit

Next round: Knit

 

Thumb Opening

 

Next Row: Purl: Begin knitting in rows with this row. Back and forth for the thumb opening keeping in mind you will be knitting in stockinette stitch

 

Next Row : K2, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 12

Next Row : Purl

Next Row : Knit

Next Row: Purl

Next Row : K2, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 12

Next Row : Purl

 

Ending Thumb Opening

 

Next Round : Knit . Resume knitting in the round at this point to close off the thumb opening

Next Round: Knit

Repeat rounds 5-8 two more times.

 

 Step 3: First increase set up

Round 9: K2, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x knit 12

Round 10:  knit

Round 11: K2, kfb, k to last 3 stitches, kfb, k2 (40 stitches)

Round 12: knit

 

Step 4:

Round 13: K3, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 13

Round 14: Knit

Round 15: Knit

Round 16: Knit

 

Step 5 : Second increase set up

Round 17: k3, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 13

Round 18: Knit

Round 19: K2, kfb, k to 3 last stitches, kfb, k2 (42 stitces)

Round 20; Knit

 

Step 6:

Round 21: K4, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 14

Round 22: Knit

Round 23: Knit

Round 24: Knit

Repeat round 21 to round 24, 3 more times

 

 Step 7: Last part of the glove and ribbing

Round 25: K4, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 14

Round 26: Knit

Round 27: (k1, p1) to end of row

 

I went down one needle size to do the cuff. It’s not required, just personal choice.

 

Repeat round 27, 7 more times. (I did only 6 x’s)

 

Bind off loosely, weave in tail.

 

LEFT HAND GLOVE

 

Cast on 38 leaving a 10” tail

 

Step 1

Round 1: (k1, p1) 6x, Knit 26

Round 2: (k1, p1) 6x, Purl 26

Round 3: repeat row 1

Round 4: repeat row 2

 

Step 2

Round 5: K12, (kfb) 4x, (ssk) 4x, (k2tog) 4x, (kfb) 4x, knit 2

Round 6: knit

Round 7: Knit

Round 8: knit

 

Next round: repeat row 5

Thumb Opening
