Open Faced Italian Sub Sandwich

Ingredietns: italianloaf

1 lb (or more if desired) seasoned ground beef *recipe follows
1 medium green bell pepper cut into 1/2 inch strips
1 medium red bell pepper cut into 1/2 inch strips
1/4 Cup Creamy Italian dressing
1 loaf of either French or Italian bread. Halved lengthwise.
8 slices Provolone cheese
small slices of pepperoni (if desired)


Cook (or reheat if using leftovers) seasoned ground beef and peppers together in skillet. Drain. Stir in 1/4 cup of dressing, heat through. Spread a bit of dressing on both halves of bread loaf and broil in oven until lightly toasted. Remove from oven and spoon meat mixture onto both halves as desired. Top with (pepperoni if desired), provolone cheese and return to oven and broil until cheese is slightly melted. Serve.

*Seasoned ground beef recipe:

2 lbs lean ground beef
1 lb pork sausage
1 cup chopped onion

Cook all three in skillet until done. Drain. I usually separate into two 1lb servings and freeze for later use.
