Spiced Pecans

My daughter makes these for special occasions and we just love them! This a picture from her last batch.

  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • 4 tblsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 salt
  • 1/4 pepper
  • 2 tsp sugar

Pre-heat oven to *350. Place pecans in a bowl. Melt butter over low heat and stir in spices, salt, pepper and sugar. Remove from heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over pecans and mix well.

Spread pecans on a large rimmed cookie sheet and bake, stirring often, until dark brown and fragrant, 20-25 minutes. Season with additional salt and pepper while still warm. Cool completely before serving. (Can be made up to a week ahead; keep covered and refrigerated.

* I keep the extra in mason jars in my cabinet. That seems to work out just fine, Especially if you seal the jars.

* I don’t know where the original recipe comes from.
